At my internship, I was able to contribute my help in organizational needs. By coming up with solutions to a messy procedure cart or the 40+ keys, I was able to help by suggesting ways to help make their office life smoother! Instead of running from procedure room to cart to another room to the other cart trying to look for a certain item, I made sure that each cart was stocked for easy access to everything. I also helped by making a procedure chart with what materials are in each shelf of the
On Monday the 21st, I woke up as usual and did my internship daily routine. Get up, shower, get dressed, brush my teeth and hair, makeup, put on my shoes, grab my badge... But on this day my badge wasn’t in the usual spot! After everyday I put my badge on top of my dresser on the corner. Instantly, I looked all over the dresser, under the dresser and next to the dresser. I started to think harder. Where in the world could I have misplaced my badge! I remember changing in my car at SeaWorld for my company orientation the past Friday after internships. Maybe it fell out of the car! That seemed a little too extreme at first so I looked into the black bag I bring
One thing that I definitely see that's a common characteristic at my internship sight is being driven to reach a goal or even just better themselves. An example of this being in use is with my colleague Ricardo who was accepted into UCLA’s medical school! He went there for undergrad and was explaining to me how before deciding to go to medical school he's worked here. Ricardo was also saying that he knew he wanted to become a doctor 100% by watching and working with my mentor. Now, he is going off again to UCLA to achieve that goal of to have his dream job. Everyone in this facility want to help people through
The first thing that I think of that stands out at my internship is probably how much I was able to go see patients with my mentor. Going into the room, I learn about the patient and the clinical trial that they are either on or are about to be on. This is super interesting to learn how they select people to participate in the trial if they fall in a certain region in what they are getting treated for. Not everyone is able to participate, so that is how they make cuts on who qualifies. Another interesting component that comes with shadowing the doctor is hearing the treatment plan that the patient may receive. Some stay from a few days to a few weeks in a room with a bed and showers.
A skill that I have to bring to my internship would be my ability to really grasp and understand new content be able to use that to my advantage in many different cases. An example of that in an academic way is understanding new math concepts easily and being able to teach my classmates how to solve problems that they may be struggling with. It is great to be able to understand new concepts but it’s so much better when I am able to share then and help others by teaching them to understand what I already learned. Another example would be everyday when I learn something new maybe about myself or just learning how to deal with anything life throws at me in high
When I envision my future, happiness in all corners of life comes to mind. My ideal education credentials I’d like would be my masters. Just enough school for stronger opportunities in getting a better job, and also having that title would be pretty cool. I wish to help people through my career, hopefully in a medical field by creating new ideas using engineering and technology to cure diseases or make someone’s life easier. My perfect life would be me enjoying my time in college by reaching my full potential in my homework or projects, while remaining socially involved through clubs and my community. Ideally I wish to pursue an internship during my summers in college, and hopefully have a career lead from that. Being successful
